🤝 Thinking About Volunteering

You don’t need to be a historian.
Our museum is a self-guided experience,
which means your role is simple and important.

As a greeter, you will:
  • Welcome visitors as they arrive
  • Answer simple questions
(we’ll help with anything you don’t know)
  • Create a friendly, comfortable atmosphere
That’s it—no memorizing, no pressure.

🕒 What to Expect
The museum is open May through October,
     typically from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
Most shifts are about 2 hours,
with flexible scheduling on weekdays or weekends.
We also welcome:
  • School groups
  • Families
  • Reunions and special events

🛠️ More Ways to Get Involved
Not everyone wants to greet—and that’s okay.
You can also help with:
Exhibit Preparation (especially in spring)
  • Setting up displays
  • Light painting or organizing
  • Moving and arranging items
Creative Contributions
  • Writing short historical notes
  • Sharing stories about the area
  • Helping bring exhibits to life
General Support
  • Assisting during events
  • Helping with promotions or outreach
If you have a skill, there’s a place for it.

📅 How to Volunteer
  • Choose a shift that works for you
  • Volunteer on your time, your terms
  • No long-term commitment required
We provide:
  • A volunteer handbook
  • On-site orientation
